Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Present Cash Award of 5 Lac and Momerial Shield to International Snooker Champion Muhammad Asif

Karachi, January 11, 2013 (PPI-OT): KMC Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed has said that the people who bright the name of Pakistan were not only the identity of our country but also our national heroes and it was very necessary to enhance the positive impression of Pakistan in current scenario. Muhammad Asif won the International Championship of Snooker and had been pride for all Pakistanis. KMC presented him a cash award worth 5 Lac which was a little gift from KMC on behalf of citizens.

He said this while addressing a reception under KMC, given in honour of International Snooker Champion 2012 Muhammad Asif. On this occasion the President of Pakistan Snooker and Billiards Association Alamgir Shaikh, other members of Snooker Association along with Ex-Captain of Pakistan Cricket Team Moen Khan, Prof. Siraj-ul-Islam Bukhari, Hockey Player Azam Khan, Muhammad Aslam of Chess Association, Sr. Director Sports, Culture and Recreation Muhammad Rehan Khan, Sr. Director E and IP Farhan Durrani, KMC officers, renowned personalities associated with various sports and a large number of citizens were present.

Administrator Karachi said that effort for ruining Pakistan’s name was being made under a conspiracy in present situation hence it was very necessary to perform in each sector to dispel the negative impression of Pakistan in all over the world and Muhammad Asif after succeeding had raised Pakistan’s flag higher for which he deserved homage.

He said that cash reward of 5 Lac from KMC was very small as compared with the performance of Muhammad Asif however; it was a little gift of love and sincerity from citizens of Karachi. He said it was new in history of Pakistan Sports that 2500 yards of land in the middle of Kashmir Road and M.A Jinnah Road on 25 years lease was provided for establishing Snooker Academy which would not only enhance the snooker but also national and international tournaments would also be held here.

Administrator Karachi said that along with infrastructure of the city sports and recreation activities were also very important so that youngsters could be provided with positive, constructive and healthy activities and their skills could be utilized.

A good number of projects of sports were initiated under KMC in which the construction of an International Standard Football Stadium and a Hockey Stadium with a cost of Rs200million in Kashmir Road Sports Complex was also included and it was expected that 80 percent work of this project would be completed this year whereas remaining work would be completed in next year. Administrator Karachi Muhammad Hussain Syed presented cash reward of 5 Lac and memorial shield to International Snooker Champion Muhammad Asif.
