Karachi Metropolitan Corporation to take action against defaulters

Karachi, March 24, 2013 (PPI-OT): KMC Administrator Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi has said that Local Tax Department should improve its recovery and the defaulters who do not pay outstanding dues their licenses should be cancelled and take disciplinary actions against them. He said this while directing Sr. Director Local Taxes Masood Alam after a review meeting held on recovery.

Administrator Karachi said that advertisers should be provided with a last chance. If they failed to pay their dues, disciplinary actions against them should be started. He said the sign boards installed in jurisdictions of KMC their advertising companies have to pay their outstanding dues. This last chance was now being provided to them again. He said KMC resources could be improved by the recovery of different departments.

He said every citizen should pay dues on time for cleanliness of the city, improvement of infrastructure, construction of roads, renovation of parks and play grounds and development projects. Especially those organizations and people who were related to business should immediately pay their dues.

Administrator Karachi said all departments concerned to recovery should improve their performance for recovery of taxes so that along with the timely payments of salaries of the employees development projects could be completed and new projects could start.

On this occasion Sr. Director Local Taxes presented a report on taxes and arrears which was collected in three years and gave a briefing. He informed that recovery campaign was being started immediately and disciplinary actions against defaulters would be taken.

He said advertisers were directed that in case of any difficulty they could directly contact with Sr. Director Local Taxes and their problems would be resolved right away. He further informed that different teams were formed for improving recovery of local taxes. He also assured Administrator Karachi for achieving objectives of Local Taxes Department.
