KC-EU launches two-day ‘signature camp on Kashmir’ in Ireland

Dublin, May 08, 2019 (PPI-OT): A team of Kashmir Council Europe (KCEU) arrived in Dublin, the capital of Ireland, in connection with the widespread awareness movement on Kashmir’s issue titled ‘One Million Signature Campaign’. A large number of Irish people took interest in the campaign and made their signature in order to express solidarity with the oppressed people of occupied Kashmir. The two-day signature camp at a central street in Dublin continued till Tuesday.

The EU based campaign was first launched in Belgium a few years ago and so far, a large number the people in different European countries have signed the documents of the signature drive. Local NGOs and social activists based in different European countries supported the move and held camps in the context in the host countries.

On first day of the signature camp in Dublin, the KCEU Chairman, Ali Raza Syed, said, basic aim of the EU based signature drive is to collect a million signatures in order to highlight the conflict of Kashmir and pressurize New Delhi to stop the human rights abuses perpetrated by its troops in occupied Kashmir.

The collection of one million signatures will be presented in the shape of the document to the European Parliament’s human rights committee in order to raise the issue of violations of human rights in occupied Kashmir.

Ali Raza Syed urged the international community particularly the United Nation and European Union to help stop human rights abuses in the occupied territory and take necessary steps for a suitable and peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations Kashmiri people.
