Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Agriculture Minister Advocates for Sector Enhancement

Peshawar, Underscoring the agriculture sector’s critical role in the economy, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Minister of Agriculture, Mohammad Sajjad, has called for concerted efforts and innovation from agricultural officers to advance this vital field, aligning with the provincial government’s developmental priorities.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Minister Sajjad articulated his vision during the department’s first review meeting, emphasizing agriculture as a foundational element of the nation’s economy. He highlighted the government’s commitment, under the guidance of PTI founder Imran Khan and Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, to elevate the sector through strategic initiatives and attentive governance.

The meeting featured detailed discussions on various developmental projects like the ADP-24 2023, AIP, and initiatives in collaboration with external entities, including the World Bank. Minister Sajjad called for project proposals that resonate with farmers’ needs and contribute to substantial, long-term benefits, stressing the importance of aligning these projects with farmer aspirations and regional agricultural priorities.

Moreover, the minister stressed the need for agricultural officers to engage directly with district-level issues, ensuring that developmental efforts are responsive and tailored to local needs. He also announced plans to enhance departmental accountability and transparency, including the establishment of a complaint cell and a monitoring system to evaluate project efficacy and officer performance.

This initiative reflects a proactive approach toward agricultural development in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, aiming to harness the sector’s potential for economic growth and sustainability while fostering a collaborative and transparent environment for agricultural advancement.
