Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Vocational Center eyes commercial operation to achieve self-reliance

Peshawar, Abdul Karim Tordhir, Special Assistant for Industry, Commerce and Technical Education, made an unannounced visit to the Government Technical and Vocational Center in Gulbahar, emphasizing the need for the center to adopt commercial activities to achieve financial independence. His tour included detailed reviews of various departments and interactions with staff and students to discuss enhancing the center’s operational efficiency.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, during his visit, Tordhir examined the center’s registration and staff biometric attendance and engaged in extensive discussions with the principal and faculty about strategic improvements. He proposed that the center should start commercial production to not only cover its annual budget but also to align its training programs more closely with market demands. The initiative aims to transform the institute into a self-sustaining entity that can contribute to regional employment by enabling students to start their own businesses.

Tordhir directed the center’s administration to implement these changes, focusing on enhancing technical training and maintaining strict attendance through biometric verification. He also recommended the inclusion of industry experts in the Institute Management Committee to leverage their insights for the center’s development.
