SECP Mandates Gender Pay Gap Disclosure for Listed Companies in Islamabad

Islamabad, The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has mandated that all listed companies disclose gender pay gap data in their annual reports. This new requirement is part of the Government’s broader Women Empowerment Package 2024, which focuses on enhancing gender diversity in the corporate sector.

According to Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, the directive requires companies to provide a detailed statement on the gender pay gap, starting with the financial year ending on or after June 30, 2024. To aid companies in complying with this requirement, the SECP has issued a suggested template and provided guidance on the methodology for calculating the gender pay gap. This initiative is aimed at enabling companies to more accurately assess and report on pay differentials between genders within their organizations.

The SECP views this directive as a crucial step towards promoting gender equality and diversity in the workplace. By fostering transparency and accountability, the SECP hopes to encourage more equitable treatment across all levels of the corporate sector in Pakistan.
