Law and order situation of Punjab province depends on maintenance of peace in big cities

Lahore, October 04, 2012 (PPI-OT): The law and order situation of the Punjab province depends on the maintenance of peace in the big cities including Lahore. If the crimes situation will remain under control in the big cities, the law and order will improve across the Punjab drastically.

The Field Officers must stay in the field and patrol on the roads in order to provide protection to the life and property of the citizens. The more the Field Officers will remain in the field, the better the police can control the crimes. The police officers should consider each robbery incident as seriously as they are themselves the victims.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Muhammad Habib-ur-Rehman expressed these views while presiding over a high-level meeting held to review the law and order situation in Lahore at Police Lines Qila Gujjar Singh today.

DIG (Operations) Rai Muhammad Tahir, DIG (Investigation) Chaudhry Shafique, and SSP (Operations) Sohail Sukhera, SSP (Investigation) Babar Bakhat Qureshi and SP (Headquarters) Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera were also present in the meeting besides other senior officers. The provincial police chief directed the officers to implement the same security strategy that had been put into practice on the occasion of Youm-e-Ishaq-e-Rasool (PBUH).

The police also finalised a comprehensive strategy to launch crackdown on the gamblers involved in betting cricket matches, especially the T20 world cup match of Pak-Seri Lanka’s semi final. The IGP ordered the officers to smash the network of gamblers.

During the meeting, the IGP was informed that the social, cultural, and trade activities taking place in Lahore in peaceful environment are a proof of improvement in the law and order situation in the City.

The Field Officers also gave detailed briefing to the police chief one-by-one regarding the crimes and law and order situation in their respective divisions. The IGP was also informed that the major criminals’ gangs involved in bank, jewellery shops and house robberies have been smashed successfully and the criminals are arrested. The IGP appreciated the CIA police for performing good work.

DIG (Operations) Rai Muhammad Tahir informed the IGP that the British and US Consulates in Lahore sent appreciation letters to the Lahore Police for ensuring foolproof security during the protests on Youm-e-Ishaq-e-Rasool (PBUH).

Muhammad Habib-ur-Rehman directed the officers that they should not leave any stone unturned to provide justice to the complainants with commitment rather than performing their duties just for the sake of duty.

Meanwhile, the provincial police chief awarded cash prizes of Rs 50,000 and Rs 40,000 respectively to DSP Mughalpura Nasir Mushtaq and SHO Civil Lines Police Station Abid Rahid for their outstanding performance.
