Liquid foreign reserves recorded at US$20,521.5 million

Karachi, March 24, 2016 (PPI-OT):The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Thursday announced that the total liquid foreign reserves held by the country stood at US$20,521.5 million on 18 March 2016.

The break-up of the foreign reserves position is as under:

i) Foreign reserves held by the State Bank of Pakistan: US$ 15,630.4 million

ii) Net foreign reserves held by banks: US$ 4,891.1 million

iii) Total liquid foreign reserves: US$ 20,521.5 million

During the week ending 18 March 2016, SBP’s Liquid FX Reserves decreased by US$229 million to US$15,630 million, compared to US$15,859 million in the previous week. The decrease in reserves is mainly attributed to payments of US$ 223 million on account of external debt servicing.
