Masarrat Aalam’s release from illegal detention demanded

Srinagar, May 18, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Muslim League Jammu Kashmir has strongly condemned the continued illegal detention of Hurriyet leader and Vice President of the party, Masarrat Aalam Butt and has demanded his immediate release along with other illegally detained Hurriyet leaders and activists. The party spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Masarrat Aalam Butt was arrested under false charges during the 2010 mass uprising.

He deplored that the court exonerated him of charges for several times and issued orders for his release but each time he was re-arrested and booked under new false charges. He added that last week, the court ordered his release but he was re-arrested and he was presently lodged in Shaheed Gunj Police Station.

The spokesman said that the occupation authorities were ignoring the court orders and prolonging illegal detention of Masarrat Aalam Butt to keep him away from people. He said that such undemocratic tactics could not prevent the people of Kashmir from their just struggle for securing right to self-determination. He said that the liberation movement would be taken to its logical conclusion despite all odds.
