Mega Projects worth nearly 4 billion Rupees approved

Islamabad: Fifteenth Steering Committee meeting on Urban Development Project of AJ and K headed by Dy. Chairman ERRA Lt Gen Sardar Mehmood Ali Khan was held at ERRA HQ today. Secretary C and W AJ and K, GM NESPAK, DG SERRA and DG’s from ERRA attended the meeting. Projects worth nearly 4 billion rupees to be built in three cities of AJ and K i.e., Muzaffarabad, Bagh and Rawalakot were presented for approval.

Welcoming the participants the Dy Chairman ERRA Lt Gen Sardar Mehmood Ali Khan highly appreciated the resolve and proactive role played by AJ and K government to help speed up the work on the Urban Development Projects.

He said that revitalization of reconstruction is promising, while the construction of state of the art library in Muzaffarabad and infrastructure of three cities is encouraging as it will benefit the future generations while beautifying the cities. He also said while nearly Rs 4 billion has been spent on 40 completed projects, the Urban Development Project is likely to be complete in two years.

The nearly Rs 4 billion worth projects presented for approval included state of the art bridges, sewerage networks, roads, water distribution networks and fresh poultry, meat and sea food market.

Urban Development projects focusing on rebuilding three cities of AJ and K are being funded by China in form of concessional loans and are being implemented by Chinese companies. Five projects worth Rs 2.5 billion for Muzaffarabad including Jalalabad Bridge, fish and meat market, water and sewerage networks and F.G public school were approved.

The Steering Committee also approved three projects worth one billion rupees i.e. Hullar Bridge, Bypass road and F.G public school, for Bagh. The public school will have fifteen classrooms built on 20 kanal plot along with laboratories, canteen, playground and halls. For Rawalakot main city area, Water treatment and sewerage project of worth 0.5 billion were also approved.
