Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Culture and Information, Mian Iftikhar Hussain has underscored the need for holding maximum positive activities in the present tense situation so as to attract our youth towards positive activities/

This he said after inauguration of exhibition of painting / pencil portraits of Mian Muhammad Arshad at Agriculture University Peshawar on Saturday. Vice Chancellor of the Agriculture University Prof. Dr. Khan Bahadur Marwat, Deans of faculties, chairmen of the departments and President of Pakhtuns Students Federation Agriculture University Majid Khan were also present on this occasion.

The young artists highlighted the new and old Pakhtuns culture and civilization, their life style as well as Arabic writing.

The Minister Culture while appreciating the efforts of the young artist Mian Muhammad Arshad, said that the pencil work of in portraits was highly appreciable and shows individuality of his artistic work.

He added that he felt happiness that the artist has a positive mentality as he, in his work did not highlight the bomb blasts or other negative activities. He specially prays the artistic taste of highlighting different aspects of the society particularly the Pakhtun’s culture.

To a question regarding Drown Attacks,Mian Iftikhar said that it was highly condemnable as it was direct interference in the affairs of sovereign state. He furthered, due to it terrorism and militancy instead of decreasing, was increasing and the terrorists were also getting sympathies of the common man.

He clarified that the only way for lasting peace in the region was confidence building and intelligence sharing among USA, Pakistan and Afghanistan with each others.

Regarding two weekly holidays in government departments, the minister maintained that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has proposed one weekly off, he however said that the decision of Council of Common Interest (CCI) in this regard would be honoured. The provincial cabinet in its upcoming meeting would also considered the plus and minus of the said decision.

To another question regarding record increase in the power tariff, Mian Iftikhar said that it was the result of the past agreements of the then governments. He said that the provincial government has decided to spend all the money coming from net hydle profit, in power sector ensuring cheap electricity to the people of this province.
