Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazir Tarar chairs a meeting of the committee on 5th May, 2023 to formulate administrative and legislative measures to prevent smuggling of goods

Islamabad, May 05, 2023 (PPI-OT): Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazir Tarar chaired a meeting of the committee on 5th May, 2023 to formulate administrative and legislative measures to prevent smuggling of goods. Participants of the meeting included Advisor to the Prime Minister Mr. Ahad Cheema, Secretary Law and Justice, Chairman FBR, Member Customs and officials of the M/o Law and Justice.

Issues related to trial, prosecution and investigation processes regarding cases of smuggling were discussed at length. Minister for Law and Justice stated that it is imperative to take measures for capacity building of investigating and field officer of customs.

For that purpose training module must be designed in coordination with the Islamabad Bar Council’s legal and Education committee to impart specialized skills, knowledge and professionalism. FBR is to provide a list of officers and first training will be held within a week. Additionally, the Minister for Law and Justice suggested to immediately establish special trial courts in Quetta, Karachi and Multan.
