Minister for Railways curtails ex-Pakistan leave from three years to one year

Islamabad, June 25, 2013 (PPI-OT): Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique has issued a dead line of four months to all those officers who have been enjoying their ex-Pakistan leave for the last two or more.

The Minister has received the list of all those officers who have been availing ex-Pakistan leave. Federal Minister has issued a new policy for sanctioning ex-Pakistan leave according to which the period of leave has been curtailed from three years to one while the officers who already have taken the leave sanction, will be entitled for two years leave only and the ministry has served them notices in this regard.

The Minister said this policy needed to be formulated to stop the brain drain of capable and talented officers who after getting the approval of leave flee abroad for lucrative jobs and keep their seniority intact.

Once their leave is exhausted they come back with their seniority intact and get elevated perks and privileges from the Ministry. Federal Minister said that after the implementation of this policy the dynamic officers, skilled engineers and technicians will be bound to serve maximum for their country and if they do not come back to Pakistan upon exhaustion of leave, they will be replaced by other talented officers.

The Minister said, “first time ever this policy has been adopted in the history of Pakistan Railways”. Federal Minister has emphasized that all those officers who had availed their ex-Pakistan leave for last two years are supposed to report for duty immediately. Necessary action will be taken against officers failing to report within given ambit of time.
