Ministry of Petroleum highly appreciates offer of cooperation in Oil and Gas sector by Ukraine: Minister

Islamabad, April 18, 2013 (PPI-OT): Ministry of Petroleum highly appreciates and welcomes the offer of cooperation in the Oil and Gas sector by Ukraine. This was said by Mr. Sohail Wajahat H. Siddiqui, Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources while meeting H.E. Volodymyr Lakomov, Ambassador of Ukraine to Pakistan, who called on the Minister here in Islamabad today.

Minister Petroleum said that the Ministry of Petroleum, Government of Pakistan would facilitate establishment of Ukrainian Oil and Gas services companies in Pakistan and would initiate experts’ exchange program as an activity of the Inter-Governmental Science and Technology Commission, between the two countries. Mr. Sohail Wajahat further informed that Pakistan holds huge potential in the hydrocarbon sector and any help offered by the Government of Ukraine and Ukrainian companies would be welcomed.

Earlier, H.E. Volodymyr Lakomov, Ambassador of Ukraine apprised the Minister Petroleum that Ukrainian companies are interested to work in the oil and gas exploration in Pakistan and there are technologies available which can be shared between the two countries.

He further elaborated that Ukraine is using state of the art technology, which provides cost efficient solutions for oil and Gas exploration, while as considerably reducing the time spent on exploration surveys.

Minister Petroleum said that OGDCL and PPL can utilize the expertise offered by Ukraine. Mr. Sohail Wajahat further said that Pakistan’s consumption requirements of oil and gas are more than the available supply and therefore, major emphasis is on addition of oil and gas into the system through enhanced exploration.
