Modi Regime Attempts to Promote False Narrative in IIOJK, Claims KMS Report

Islamabad, A recent report by the Kashmir Media Service (KMS) asserts that the Modi-led Indian regime is attempting to promote a false narrative in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) by distorting the truth and manipulating facts. The report contends that the Indian government is seeking to create the impression of normalcy in the occupied territory to justify its controversial actions of August 5, 2019, when Jammu and Kashmir’s special status was revoked.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the Indian government has been spreading propaganda to suggest that the situation in IIOJK is returning to normal. It highlights India’s attempts to construct a narrative of investment and development to mask the ongoing repression and violations of human rights in the region. However, the report contends that continued detentions, the application of draconian laws, and routine raids and search operations debunk the claims of normalcy.

The report underscores that Indian troops have turned IIOJK into an open jail, with basic human rights violations occurring on a regular basis. Despite New Delhi’s attempts to portray the territory as peaceful, the reality is far from it, with the region being heavily militarized.

The KMS report asserts that India has a history of using falsehood as state policy to mislead the international community about the situation in IIOJK. It calls on the global community to press India to allow the Kashmiri people to decide their own future and warns that peace and stability in South Asia will remain elusive without addressing the Kashmir issue in accordance with the aspirations of the local population.

The report concludes with a call for international intervention to ensure that the people of Kashmir are granted the opportunity to voice their concerns and determine their own path, highlighting that true normalcy can only be achieved through the resolution of the Kashmir conflict.
