Mountaineering School Planned for Gilgit Baltistan to Boost Green Tourism and Environmental Education

Islamabad: A pivotal meeting chaired by Romina Khurshid Alam, Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, laid the groundwork for establishing a mountaineering school in Gilgit Baltistan aimed at promoting sustainable green tourism and environmental education.

According to Press Information Department, the meeting outlined a comprehensive plan for the school’s development, focusing on sustainable practices and community involvement. Three sub-committees were formed to tackle various aspects of the project, including site feasibility, curriculum development, and stakeholder engagement.

The initiative is part of a broader effort to combat climate change impacts, particularly in mountainous regions, and to provide high-quality mountaineering and environmental conservation education. This educational facility aims to be a cornerstone for sustainable tourism and environmental stewardship in the region.
