Murad rescues 8 people stuck up on washed away Korangi Causeway

Islamabad, August 11, 2019 (PPI-OT): Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah from late last night to this morning and to evening of Sunday remained on roads and visited various areas rain-affected areas of Karachi, Thatta, Sujawal, Badin, Tando Mohammad Khan and Hyderabad and reviewed the situation and de-watering work.

Sunday Morning: The chief minister visited Causeway connecting Korangi with Defence area which was washed away in heavy rains, as a result eight people, including two children and a motorcycle were stuck up. On the instructions of the chief minister ordered Commissioner Karachi and DC Korangi arranged a crane and Edhi boats and rescued the entangled people. Mr Shah who was accompanied by Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Shah, Labour Minister Saeed Ghani and Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shahalwani.

The chief Minister visited Star Gate, Airport area, Quaidabad where he inspected flow in Malir Nadi which in inundation. Media talk: The chief minister told media that he had vowed with the people of Karachi that elected representatives, employees of local bodies, water board and civic agencies would seen working on the roads and streets and it was very much visible every where.

Mr Shah said that it was a heavy rain all along the coastal belt and bear by districts have been received, therefore Stagnation of water was natural but as soon as it stopped raining de-watering process started. He said that no Underpass was inundated and roads have been cleared. “ Now it has rained heavy again and we are making efforts to mitigate public problems” he said.

Mr Shah said that he has given clear instructions to Adl IG Karachi Ghulam Nabi Memon to mobile people to help affected and stuck people. “ You must have noticed that Memon Goth police rescued five people stuck on a container because of inundation,” he said.

Last night Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah along with his ministers visited city when it was receiving heavy rain. He visited Nursery, Hassan Square, Nipa, University road up to Safoora Chowrangi. He installed truck-mounted de-watering machines to clear roads.
