NAB Executive Board Meeting Held

Islamabad: The Executive Board of NAB in its meeting today rejected the Plea Bargain request of Ch. Muhammad Rashid Khan, former S.E. Wapda and directed NAB Punjab to make a fair assessment / market value of his assets in two weeks time to facilitate decision in the case on merits. It may be pointed out that Ch. Rashid owned more than 1100 kanals of Agri land and almost 45 plots/flats in different parts of Lahore.

The Meeting also rejected the Voluntary Return request of Syed Mohsin Shah, former DCO D.I. Khan and instead offered him Plea Bargain to settle the case of misuse of authority. The Board Meeting was chaired by Adm® Fasih Bokhari.

The meeting also approved the closure of inquiries / investigations against Sikandar Ali Lakhair former EDO; Ms. Fakhar Karim Siddiqui EDO, Karachi; Muhammad Sadiq Majid; Syed Khurshid Shah MNA and Ghulam-ud-Din Marwat former MNA from KPK for want of evidence.

The Board decided to close the investigation against Khalid Mohi-ud-Din Chief Controller of stores, Saeed Akhtar, GM Railways and Sami Khilji, former Secretary Pak Railways in a Contract tender of scrap as the loss suffered by public exchequer was recovered by NAB.

The Board decided to defer the reference against the Chief Controller of stores and two other officers in another Railway Case and directed to obtain evidence to facilitate proper filing of reference. The Chairman specifically directed that the accused involved in the scam should be arrested immediately.

The Meeting was apprised of the progress report on the realization of investments, made by the affectees in M/s Aglam Global (Qasr-e-Zauk) case and was informed that the market price of the property by different evaluators will be determined immediately and a receiver is also likely to be appointed by the Lahore High Court who would look after the interest of the investors to ensure the safe return of their investments to them. The Chairman further directed that issue has to be settled expeditiously as the investors should get back their hard earned money.
