Pakistan and Kazakhstan Strengthen Economic and Cultural Ties

Islamabad, In a move to enhance economic and cultural relations, Mr. Yerzhan Kistafin, the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Pakistan, met with Mr. Ahad Khan Cheema, the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs, today in Islamabad. The meeting underscored the commitment of both nations to expand their bilateral relations, established since February 1992, through increased trade, investment, and cultural exchanges.

According to Press Information Department, Minister Cheema highlighted the growth in trade volume between Pakistan and Kazakhstan and called for further efforts to maximize the trade potential. The discussions also emphasized the importance of fostering direct contacts between business communities of the two countries to boost bilateral trade and investment opportunities.

Ambassador Kistafin reiterated Kazakhstan’s dedication to working with Pakistan in priority areas such as trade, energy, agriculture, and enhancing regional connectivity. He also reviewed the accomplishments of the 12th Session of the Pakistan-Kazakhstan Joint Intergovernmental Commission (JIC), held in December 2023 in Astana, which focused on strengthening cooperation to advance regional connectivity and mutual development.

Minister Cheema acknowledged the successful outcomes of the recent JIC session, particularly the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) on Tourism and Culture, reflecting a shared interest in promoting people-to-people ties and cultural appreciation. He noted a significant uptick in Pakistani tourists visiting Kazakhstan, driven by a growing fascination with Kazakh culture, heritage, and landscapes.

In conclusion, both sides expressed optimism about the future of their bilateral relationship, with Minister Cheema affirming Pakistan’s readiness to collaborate closely with Kazakhstan to further enhance these ties. The meeting was a reaffirmation of both countries’ commitment to achieving mutual prosperity and deeper bilateral cooperation.
