National Accountability Bureau arrests accused in Rs350million Modarba case

Islamabad, September 11, 2014 (PPI-OT): The National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Rawalpindi has arrested an accused Muhammad Nauman Qureshi of Nauman Ejaz (NE) Associates allegedly involved in a Rs 350 million Modarba case.

NAB Rawalpindi has so far received 395 complaints in this case. During inquiry it transpired that the accused person induced public at large to invest the amount in their NE Associates’ illegal Modarba/Musharika business (Juice business) against attractive profits and thus looted the general public.

The investigation team is trying hard for recovery of looted money and has traced some property (including two houses and some agricultural land) which is being seized. The accused (Muhammad Nauman Qureshi) was produced before the Accountability Court Islamabad today and the Court has granted 11 days physical remand to NAB.

The Regional Bureau is currently investigating 93 cases of multi-billion modarba scam and has so far received 40,139 complaints from scam affectees. The bureau has recovered Rs 1.691 billion and filed three references in this mega scam.

The Bureau has so far arrested 15 accused persons in Modarba scam including Mufti Ehsan-ul-Haq, Mufti Ibrar-ul-Haq, Hafiz Muhammad Nawaz, Moeen Aslam, Obaidullah, Mufti Shabbir Ahmad Usmani, Sajjad Ahmed, Asif Javeed, Ghulam Rasool Ayubi, Muhammad Hussain Ahmed, Hamid Nawaz, Muhammad Irfan, Bilal Khan Bangash, Matiur Rehman and Muhammad Nauman Qureshi. NAB is committed to eliminate corruption from the society and trying hard to recover looted money from the plunderers.
