National Assembly Committee Focuses on Strengthening Pakistan’s Foreign Relations

Islamabad: The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs convened at the Parliament House today, undertaking a detailed review of Pakistan’s foreign policy strategy with a particular focus on enhancing relations with key regions such as Russia, Europe, the Middle East, Turkey, and Central Asian countries.

According to National Assembly of Pakistan, the session, chaired by Ms. Hina Rabbani Khar, featured an in-depth briefing by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The committee examined Pakistan’s diplomatic priorities, stressing the importance of trade and people-to-people contacts. Notable discussions centered on bolstering strategic and economic ties with the Middle East, particularly Saudi Arabia and the GCC countries, and exploring trade opportunities with Turkey and the Central Asian Republics.

While discussions on Africa and South America were deferred, the committee recognized the need for a targeted diplomatic approach to these emerging markets. Recommendations from today’s meeting included increasing Pakistani scholarships in European countries, tightening controls on illegal emigration, and ensuring balanced engagements with global powers. The committee also emphasized the importance of integrating economic goals with diplomatic efforts across various governmental sectors.

The meeting was attended by several prominent members of the committee and key foreign affairs officials, concluding with a unified commitment to advancing Pakistan’s strategic and economic interests on the global stage.
