Islamabad: In a bustling session at the Parliament House, the National Assembly, chaired by Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, introduced seven new bills, touching on diverse issues ranging from university establishment to child marriage restraint and judiciary reforms. The session, largely dedicated to private members’ business, also saw the adoption of a motion to appoint a special committee on Kashmir.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the bills introduced include legislative proposals on education, minority rights, and the restructuring of high courts. The session also addressed national security concerns, with Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar clarifying the legal provisions for telecommunication surveillance under existing laws, aimed at counterterrorism efforts. The assembly passed two bills, focusing on Christian marriage amendments and the establishment of a Pakistan Psychological Council, further demonstrating the assembly’s commitment to addressing varied legislative needs.
