Srinagar, National Conference Lok Sabha MP Agha Syed Ruhullah Mehdi has emphasized the need for INDIA bloc partners to begin addressing issues relevant to the Muslim community.
According to Kashmir Media Service, during a media interaction in Srinagar, Mehdi criticized the INDIA bloc for their silence on Muslim issues despite the significant support received from Muslim voters in the recent general elections. He noted that while the alliance is vocal about other minorities, it neglects to advocate for Muslims, questioning the lack of representation and support for the community.
Mehdi, a three-time legislative assembly winner from the Budgam constituency, has recently secured a Lok Sabha seat by defeating Peoples’ Democratic Party leader Waheed-ur-Rehman Para with a significant vote margin. His comments reflect a growing concern among Muslim constituents who feel underrepresented in political discussions and decisions.
