National Disaster Management Authority’s relief support to Gilgit-Baltistan

Islamabad, April 14, 2016 (PPI-OT):As part of relief operation, NDMA has sent another C-130 aircraft carrying 8 tons of Wheat flour today. Additional sorties carrying relief will also be sent today. So far, total five C-130 sorties carrying 28 tons of relief goods have reached to GB as per need assessment. The relief consignment comprised of Wheat Flour, children Milk Powder and other dry ration besides 550 shelters and 350 blankets. Furthermore, more flights have also been scheduled to send ration to GB till opening of KKH.

NDMA in coordination with Government of Gilgit-Baltistan and with the assistance of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has initiated relief operation to meet food shortage in GB due to blocked road network. In order to supplement relief efforts in GB, Chief Minister Balochistan Sardar Sanaullah Zehri and Minister for Home and PDMA Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti on behalf of Government of Balochistan have also handed over Tents, Blankets, Tarpaulin, Rice, Sugar and Pulses to NDMA for further transportation to Gilgit-Baltistan. The relief items have reached Gilgit.
