Srinagar, Omar Abdullah, Vice President of the National Conference, has voiced strong criticism of the Indian government’s claims of normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir, describing the situation in the region as one of increased devastation rather than peace since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019.
According to Kashmir Media Service, speaking at a gathering in Hyhama, Kupwara, Abdullah pointed to recent violent incidents in Rajouri, Poonch, Srinagar, and other areas as evidence that stability has not been achieved in Jammu and Kashmir. He argued that the claimed developmental progress post-Article 370 is invisible on the ground, with residents facing harsh living conditions marked by poor infrastructure, frequent electricity outages, and rising costs. Abdullah emphasized the significance of the upcoming parliamentary elections as an opportunity for the people of Kashmir to express their discontent and send a strong message to New Delhi and the international community.
