Operation against the adulterators and profiteers will continue till the satisfaction of the consumers. Commissioner Karachi, Shoaib Siddiqui

Karachi, March 25, 2014 (PPI-OT): The Delegation of Pakistan Consumers’ Federation (PCF) ” – (The apex Consumer Body of Pakistan) meets with Commissioner Karachi, Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui, delegation comprised by PCF members, including Mr. Kaukab Iqbal chairman Consumer Association of Pakistan (CAP), Umar Ghauri Chairman Consumers Eye Pakistan (TCEP), Ms. Huma Bukhari Chair person Consumer Forum, Sheikh Rashid Alam Chairman Consumer Foundation, and representatives of Helpline Trust, Pakistan Consumers Bureau along with Air commodore Inamullah Khan. PCF Members asked Commissioner Karachi to take action against Violators of Consumer rights protection.

appreciating establishment of “Pakistan Consumers’ Federation (PCF)” Commissioner Karachi, Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui pledged his commitment that the Government will not tolerate fleecing of the people especially the common man at the hands of adulterators and profiteers. He assured that operation by the Assistant Commissioners against the adulterators and profiteers will continue till the results are achieved to the satisfaction of the consumers.

He said that administrative officials have been permanently deputed at the vegetable and fruit Markets/ mandis especially at the auction hours in the nights to check artificial shortage of these commodities and profiteering.

Ms. Huma Bukhari briefed him in detail about the establishment of Pakistan Consumers’ Federation. She said that in Pakistan recognizable consumer associations came into existence in the new millennium and the names of Consumer Association of Pakistan, Helpline Trust, Consumers Eye Pakistan, Consumer Forum, Pakistan Consumers Bureau and Consumer Foundation are at the fore front of consumer movement. In a country like Pakistan where importance of consumer related issues like consumer rights and Consumer rights protection is rather a neglected and untouched area.

It is with this back ground that these Active Pioneer consumer organizations join hands in the better interest of the consumers and the society of Pakistan. This all put the very burden of consumer rights responsibility on the shoulders of a Federation of Consumer Associations the Pakistan Consumer’s Federation.

Mr. Kaukab Iqbal asked commissioner to stop cooperation with mushroom Consumer organizations working for profiting but not for Consumer Service and consider the organizations in PCF as legitimate consumer NGOs in Pakistan. Commissioner assured him to look into the matter. Mr. Umar Ghauri asked to ban Paper Bags/sacks made by used cement bags, harming people’s health and lives as even Atta is also packed in these bags by Atta manufacturers and it should be stopped.

Sheikh Rashid Alam gave detailed vision of PCF and asked Commissioner Karachi to cooperate for the sake of Consumers right protection. Commissioner Karachi, Shoaib Siddiqui listen all grievances regarding consumer rights protection and assured his full cooperation. Consumer NGO’S draw attention to unethical marketing practices, expose hazardous technologies and production processes, point out the need for consumer legislation and its enforcement. They share the same underlying aim of bringing about important and needed benefits for consumers.

Pakistan Consumers’ Federation (PCF) delegation soon will meet Governor Sindh Dr. Ishratul Ebad Khan, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif respectively regarding the grim situation of Consumer Right Protection in Pakistan.
