Pak envoy inaugurates Pakistani Pavilion at SIAL Middle East Food exhibition

Abu Dhabi, November 27, 2012 (PPI-OT): “UAE has the biggest market for Pakistani products. Pakistani food like rice, vegetables, fruits, spice, jams, pickles, and other food products are highly popular among the locals owing to there extraordinary natural taste. UAE is an important regional hub but Pakistani exports does not benefit from opportunities offered here”. This was stated by H.E Mr. Jamil Ahmed Khan, Ambassador of Pakistan to UAE while talking to reporters after inaugurating Pakistan Pavilion at SIAL Middle East Exhibition food exhibition, here in Abu Dhabi.

Jamil Khan pointed out that it was a matter of great pride and honour for Pakistan pavilion that it was specially visited by H.H. Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Presidential Affairs and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority and other members of the Royal Family. His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan took keen interest in organic food and herbal drinks.

Ambassador Khan said that UAE is currently importing products around US $ 5 billion out of which Pakistani Market is only US $ 500 million which can be raised up to US $ 1 billion easily by establishing our brands in the region and spending on improving quality of packaging up to international standards.

He further added, that of Chambers of Commerce and trade development authority of Pakistan has to promote business trade and project quality products at the International level by ensuring the participation of Pakistani companies in these exhibitions and providing them space to display their products.

The Ambassador assured that the all those visiting the Pakistan Pavilion will have a chance to meet with the leading food suppliers during the three-day event at this dedicated business platform. Renowned food companies from Pakistan like Pakistan Rice complex, National Graze Pvt Ltd, Taj food Pvt Ltd, Aliza food Pvt Ltd, Mitco rice processing Ltd, Sufi group of companies, Quershi food pvt Ltd, has participated and exhibited there products.

Since its inception in 2010 SIAL middle East has rapidly gained popularity and this year estimated increase of 85% is observed as there were 8 new pavilions of different countries.

Pakistani Ambassador visited the stalls at Pakistan Pavilion and met with the exhibitors praising the quality and packing of their products. Ambassador assured all the exhibitors that Embassy of Pakistan will provide all the support and assistant required by the Pakistani traders.
