Pakistan Advances Digital Infrastructure with Plans for IMT Spectrum Release

Islamabad: In a significant move to enhance mobile broadband services, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, presided over the Advisory Committee meeting on the release of International Mobile Telephony (IMT) Spectrum today.

According to Ministry of Finance announcement issued on 11 July 2024, the session brought together key stakeholders from the telecommunication sector and regulatory bodies to discuss the strategic allocation and use of the IMT spectrum. The release of this spectrum is poised to considerably boost connectivity, accelerate internet speeds, and satisfy the growing need for high-quality data services across Pakistan. The committee deliberated on the auction process, technical requirements, and the planned schedule for the spectrum’s release. Furthermore, the discussions also explored strategies to foster technological advancements and cultivate a favorable climate for investment and expansion in the telecom industry.
