Islamabad: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, reaffirmed the country’s commitment to supporting a sovereign Palestinian state during a recent phone conversation with Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi. The dialogue focused on the ongoing challenges faced by Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the broader Middle East region.
According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Dar emphasized the need for a Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital. He expressed concern over proposals to displace the population of Gaza, describing such plans as troubling and unjust.
Dar reiterated Pakistan’s stance that the land belongs to the Palestinian people and advocated for a two-state solution in line with UN Security Council resolutions. He also highlighted Pakistan’s support for a special meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Foreign Ministers to further discuss the issue.
Both foreign ministers agreed to keep in close contact regarding these developments, underscoring the importance of continued dialogue and cooperation between their respective countries.
