Islamabad, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have expressed a shared commitment to enhance their bilateral economic and investment relations. This resolve emerged from a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and a Saudi delegation led by Advisor at the Royal Court and General Secretary of the Saudi-Pak Supreme Coordination Council, Mohammed bin Mazyad Al-Tuwaijri, in Riyadh.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting centered on matters of mutual interest and explored avenues for strengthening economic ties between the two countries. The two sides discussed ways to facilitate Saudi investment in Pakistan and considered other collaborative initiatives.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed Pakistan’s desire to benefit from Saudi Arabia’s successful reform policies to modernize Pakistan’s governance structure. He noted that the longstanding fraternal relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia continue to grow stronger. The Prime Minister stated that significant progress has been made on investment in various sectors in Pakistan following the visit of the Saudi Foreign Minister’s delegation.
The Saudi delegation expressed keen interest in furthering Saudi investment in Pakistan. Mohammed bin Mazyad Al-Tuwaijri, who is also associated with Saudi Vision 2030, briefed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the vision and stated that every possible assistance would be provided to train Pakistani workforce and government officials under Vision 2023. He added that Saudi Arabia aims to align its bilateral economic relations with its strategic vision for 2030.
The meeting was attended by several high-ranking officials, including Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb, Federal Minister for Petroleum Musadik Malik, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ataullah Tarar, and Federal Minister for Power Owais Ahmad Khan Leghari, among others.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked the Saudi government for the warm welcome and expressed gratitude for the hospitality extended by the Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He also conveyed the deep respect that the people of Pakistan have for Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud.
The meeting reflects the ongoing commitment of both countries to expand their economic ties and foster stronger bilateral relations in the future.
