Pakistan and Saudi Arabia Seek to Strengthen Strategic Ties Amidst Regional Challenges


Islamabad, President Asif Ali Zardari of Pakistan expressed his desire to deepen strategic and economic ties with Saudi Arabia during discussions with a visiting delegation led by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the talks highlighted the longstanding relationship between the two nations, with President Zardari articulating Pakistan’s respect for King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the nation’s commitment to standing with Saudi Arabia. He praised the transformative leadership of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Muhammad Bin Salman, specifically noting the advances under Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 initiative.



President Zardari also acknowledged Saudi Arabia’s support during Pakistan’s times of need and underscored the interconnected prosperity of the Islamic world with the progress of Saudi Arabia. From his side, Foreign Minister Prince Faisal emphasized the critical nature of Saudi-Pakistani relations and expressed a commitment to fortifying this partnership. He also appreciated the significant contributions of the Pakistani diaspora to the development of Saudi Arabia.



The discussions also covered regional dynamics, particularly the situation in the Middle East, with both sides advocating for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza and the cessation of Israeli hostilities. Furthermore, the meeting addressed various bilateral issues and the broader challenges facing the Muslim Ummah, reiterating the two countries’ resolve to promote economic cooperation and mutual development.
