Pakistan and Turkey to Strengthen Bilateral Ties; Free Online Visas Announced for Turkish Citizens

Islamabad: In a significant move to fortify bilateral relations, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with Turkish Ambassador Dr. Mehmet Pacaci, discussing enhanced cooperation in security and other mutual interests. Both nations agreed on multiple initiatives, including training exchanges for Pakistani police officers and new visa policies for Turkish citizens.

According to Press Information Department, the meeting underscored the commitment of both Pakistan and Turkey to deepen their longstanding ties, focusing particularly on security, police training, and civil armed forces collaboration. Starting August 14 this year, Turkish citizens will be eligible for free online visas to facilitate easier travel to Pakistan, a gesture aimed at strengthening people-to-people connections between the two countries.

Minister Naqvi also announced plans to visit Turkey in October on an official invitation from the Turkish government. This visit is expected to further strategic cooperation and introduce productive steps towards bolstering the partnership. The discussions also touched on the sensitive issue of Pakistani prisoners in Turkey, with assurances of an impending agreement to address their release.

Turkish Ambassador Pacaci reiterated Turkey’s high regard for its relationship with Pakistan, pledging ongoing cooperation across various sectors. The meeting was also attended by high-level officials including Federal Secretary Interior Khurram Ali Agha and Additional Secretary Interior Riffat Mukhtar Raja, highlighting the importance of the discussions.
