Islamabad: Pakistan and the United Kingdom have committed to enhancing their collaboration to address critical climate change issues and environmental degradation, following discussions between key governmental representatives.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the agreement was solidified during a meeting in Islamabad between Romina Khurshid Alam, Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Climate Change, and a delegation from the UK Embassy led by Development Director Jo Moire. During the meeting, Alam emphasized the severe impacts of changing weather patterns on agriculture, which pose risks to food security and livelihoods in Pakistan. She noted that the country has faced significant economic losses due to climate-related disasters in recent years. Alam also stressed the need for joint efforts involving civil society, academia, and the corporate sectors of both nations to effectively combat the emerging threats posed by climate change. She called for immediate actions to mitigate the effects of global warming, manage flood risks proactively, and provide support to the vulnerable farming communities.
