Pakistan Army Airlifts Residents from Snowbound Grace Valley

Muzaffarabad: In a concerted effort to address the challenges posed by recent heavy snowfall, the Pakistan Army has successfully evacuated residents and provided medical assistance in Grace Valley, a remote area in Azad Kashmir. Helicopter services were employed to transport patients and locals trapped by the weather conditions, ensuring their safety and well-being.

According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, a team of seven doctors, including two gynecologists, was airlifted from Muzaffarabad to Halmat. The medical team is set to deliver essential medical care to the residents of Halmat and Taobat, communities hard-hit by the harsh winter weather.

Emergency patients were also transferred from Halmat to Kel and Muzaffarabad to receive necessary medical treatment. In addition to the evacuation efforts, a free medical camp was organized in Sardari, where 153 individuals received medical examinations, free medications, and health advice.

The Pakistan Army, in collaboration with the civil administration, has deployed personnel and machinery to reopen the road from Kel to Taobat. To date, 25 kilometers of the road, initially closed due to the snowfall, has been cleared up to Halmat.

Residents of Grace Valley have expressed their gratitude towards the Azad Jammu and Kashmir government and the Pakistan Army for their swift response and ongoing efforts to maintain accessibility and provide essential services amid the challenging conditions.
