Pakistan Calls for Greater UN Focus on Human Rights Violations in Disputed Territories

Islamabad: Pakistan has called on the United Nations Human Rights Council to intensify its attention on human rights abuses in UN-recognized disputed territories, with particular emphasis on areas under long-standing foreign occupation.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Counselor Saima Saleem addressed the General Assembly during the presentation of the Human Rights Council Report. Saleem emphasized that the right to self-determination is a core principle of both international law and moral obligation, especially for populations in disputed regions.

In her remarks, Saleem also highlighted the growing incidents of Islamophobia, underscoring the Human Rights Council’s critical role in addressing this global issue.
