Pakistan Charts Strategic Priorities for G-77 and China

UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan has outlined three key priorities for the Group of 77 and China, aiming to assist member countries in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reducing poverty, and addressing climate change challenges.

According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Munir Akram, emphasized the importance of development finance, the revival of trade as a growth engine, and aligning the technology regime with SDGs and climate objectives. These priorities were highlighted during a ceremony marking the transfer of the chairmanship of G-77 and China to Iraq.

Mr. Akram identified trade as a potential transformative factor for developing countries aspiring to join the ranks of developed nations. He advocated for enhanced access for the exports of developing countries while simultaneously preparing for potential trade protectionism.

The strategic focus areas outlined by Pakistan are designed to enhance cooperation among the G-77 and China, a coalition of developing nations within the United Nations framework.
