Pakistan Oilfields Announces New Hydrocarbon Discovery at Razgir-1 Well

Karachi: Pakistan Oilfields Limited has announced a significant hydrocarbon find at the Razgir-1 well within the TAL Block, marking a promising development in its exploration efforts.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the discovery was made in the Lockhart formation, where the Drill Stem Test (DST) indicated a daily output of 17.9 million standard cubic feet of gas and 153 barrels of condensate. This testing phase followed an acid stimulation job which helped achieve these results at a flowing wellhead pressure of 2,017 psi with a fixed choke size of 40/64 inches.

This update follows previous communications on July 29 and August 6, 2024, regarding tests at other formations within the same well. The successful extraction at Lockhart adds to the optimistic projections for the well’s overall productivity.

The company is currently finalizing testing and completion strategies to optimize production from Razgir-1. Additionally, construction has begun on a 20-kilometer flow line to connect this well to the main production facility, ensuring a streamlined process for handling the extracted resources.

A Drill Stem Test (DST) is essential for assessing the potential commercial viability of geological formations encountered during drilling. This test not only measures pressure behaviors and fluid samples but also gauges the prospective yield of the well, which can differ from initial test outputs.

Pakistan Oilfields holds a 25% pre-commerciality working interest in the TAL Block, positioning this discovery as a strategic asset for the company’s future operations.
