Pakistan Refutes Indian Claim on Kashmir at UN Debate

Karachi, Pakistan has countered India’s assertion that Kashmir is an integral part of its territory, stating that such claims are internationally unacknowledged and incorrect. During the general debate of the UN Disarmament Commission, Pakistan’s representative stressed that Jammu and Kashmir remains a disputed area recognized globally, challenging India’s stance.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Pakistani delegate Gul Qaiser Sarwani at the United Nations articulated that the conflict in Kashmir and India’s military strategies bear significant implications for both regional and global peace. Sarwani pointed out the threats of terrorism Pakistan faces, accusing India of facilitating these acts.

Further discussion by Sarwani addressed the Fissile Material Cut-off Treaty (FMCT), underscoring its adverse effects on Pakistan’s security. He called for cooperative negotiation in the Conference on Disarmament (CD) to advance disarmament initiatives, expressing disappointment with the current leadership’s inability to unify member states.
