Pakistan to import 1,000MW from Iran – Alfalah Securities Limited

Karachi, June 14, 2012 (PPI-OT): Pakistan has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Iran for importing 1,000 MW of electricity at PkR 0.1/unit, as reported in a local newspaper.

According to Alfalah Securities Limited, the import of 1,000 MW of electricity from Iran would commence in the next four years. Iran would construct a power generation house in Zahedan to supply power to Pakistan, where a 700 km transmission network would be laid from Pak-Iran border to Quetta. Iran has also offered to provide USD 800 mn to USD 900 mn to the Pakistani government in this regard.
