Pakistan to Mark August 5 as Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir, Ashrafi Declares

Lahore: Hafiz Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council, declared that Pakistan will observe August 5 as Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir, underscoring an unwavering stance on the right to self-determination for the people of Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, during a press conference in Lahore, Ashrafi criticized India’s actions on August 5, 2019, in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, labeling them as breaches of international laws and United Nations resolutions. He condemned the usurpation of Kashmiri rights and referred to the region as akin to a prison with suppressed voices.

Ashrafi emphasized the significance of Kashmir and Palestine as central issues in the Muslim world, noting ongoing conflicts in both regions. He expressed gratitude towards Pakistan for its freedom, allowing advocacy for Kashmiri and Palestinian rights, contrasting this with the situation in India under the Modi government, where he claimed Muslims are prevented from supporting Kashmir.
