Pakistan’s Leaders Urge Enhanced Awareness and Action on World Malaria Day

Islamabad, On the occasion of World Malaria Day, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif issued separate calls for increased public awareness and concerted efforts to combat malaria, a disease impacting over one million Pakistanis annually.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, President Zardari highlighted the need for collective action to enhance malaria prevention measures, including the importance of testing, confirming, and standardizing treatment for every suspected case. He urged provincial governments and stakeholders to collaborate closely to address this public health challenge.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, on the other hand, emphasized learning from global experiences and supporting national efforts to fight the disease. He outlined the government’s initiatives, which include expanding free malaria testing and treatment facilities across malaria-endemic districts in the country. The Prime Minister stressed the importance of working together to strengthen healthcare systems, improve access to quality diagnostics and treatments, and increase awareness about prevention and control measures for malaria.

Both leaders’ messages underscore a national priority to curb the spread of malaria through improved public health strategies and enhanced community engagement.
