Pakistan’s PPIB Seeks Auditors to Bolster Energy Sector Oversight

Islamabad, The Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB), a key agency overseeing power projects in Pakistan’s private sector, has initiated a process to appoint external auditors for the fiscal year 2022-2023. This move comes as part of PPIB’s efforts to ensure robust auditing and transparency within the energy sector, particularly focusing on renewable energy development and infrastructure projects.

According to Private Power and Infrastructure Board, the auditing task will encompass both the PPIB and the Alternative Energy Development Board (AEDB), which was merged into PPIB in June 2023. The scope of the audit will cover activities from July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023, and includes a potential four-year extension based on satisfactory performance. Prospective auditing firms are invited to submit their proposals via a single-stage two-envelope procedure, a method designed to enhance the fairness and transparency of the selection process.

The selection of the auditor is a critical step for PPIB in reinforcing accountability and supporting the government’s objective to facilitate and promote sustainable energy projects across Pakistan. The appointed firm will play a pivotal role in reviewing financial practices and ensuring compliance with national development goals.
