Pakistan’s rice exporters delegation arrives in Beijing

Beijing, January 05, 2014 (PPI-OT): Pakistan’s Ambassador to China. Masood Khalid has expressed the hope that the exporters will fully utilize the opportunities China offered to them and take the rice export trade trajectory upward in the near future.

He was addressing a delegation of the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) led by Mr. Chela Ram, Senior Vice Chairman of the Association that arrived in Beijing today to explore possibilities of enhancing rice exports to China.

Ambassador Masood Khalid in a reception hosted at Pakistan Embassy said that the country was constantly striving to improve its technological and agricultural capacity to increase volume of its rice exports in the face of stiff competition from its competitors and its rice quality matches the highest international standards.

We need to make every effort to expand rice exports across the world, particularly China. He highlighted trade and economic relations between Pakistan and China and emphasized the need for further increasing the volume of trade between the two countries particularly of rice exports to China.

The REAP delegation will hold meetings with China National Cereals, Oils and Foodstuffs Corporation (COFCO) – one of China’s state-owned food processing holding companies with COFCO Group being China’s largest food processing, manufacturer and trader. Besides meeting with their counterpart organization in Beijing, and visits to the grain markets they will also travel to other cities including Guangzhou to deepen trade cooperation and coordination with their Chinese counterparts.
