Phased Privatization of DISCOs Promises Transparency, Says Ministers Aleem and Leghari

Islamabad: The privatization of Electricity Distribution Companies (DISCOs) in Pakistan will be executed in several transparent phases, focusing on technical precision, as revealed in a recent meeting co-chaired by Abdul Aleem Khan, Minister for Privatization, and Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, Minister for Energy.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the discussion emphasized the importance of addressing all pertinent issues swiftly to facilitate a smooth privatization process. Minister Abdul Aleem Khan stressed the need for transparency and technical scrutiny throughout the different stages of privatization to ensure the integrity and efficiency of the process.

The Secretary of Energy announced that a comprehensive schedule for the privatization of the DISCOs had already been drafted, setting the stage for the upcoming phases. This strategic approach aims to enhance the operational capabilities and service quality of electricity distribution across the country.
