Political leadership stands by Prime Minister on Political Parties Meeting

Islamabad: The political leadership of the country has welcomed the initiative of Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani to hold Political Parties Meeting soon to apprise them on the security situation in the wake of threats emanating from outside the country.

Foreign Minister Ms Hina Rabbani Khar has been summoned to reach Pakistan soon to be present in the briefing, which will be given by all the concerned authorities.

The Prime Minister is in the process of consultation and has contacted Co-Chairperson of the PPP and President Mr. Asif Ali Zardari who is on board.

Other leaders whom the Prime Minister has contacted are: PML(N) Chief Mian Nawaz Sharif, PML(Q) Chief, Chaudhry Shujat Hussain, MQM Chief Mr. Altaf Hussain, ANP Chief Mr. Asfand Yar Wali, JUI(F)’s Amir Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, leader of the Opposition, Pir Sahib Pagara, Chief of PML(F), Amir of Jamaat-i- Islami Syed Munawar Hassan, Mr. Imran Khan, Chief PTI, Mr. Aftab Khan Sherpao, head of PPP(S), Mr. Muneer Khan Orakzai, leader of the Parliamentary Party of FATA, Sheikh Rashid Ahmad, President of AML, Senator Salim Saifullah Khan, PML (Like-minded Group), Sarwat Ijaz Qadri of Sunni Tehreek and Maulana Muhammad Anas Noorani of JUI (P) .

The Prime Minister is also in the process of consultation with the political leadership of Balochistan.

Political leaders expressed their willingness to attend the briefing and also endorsed the Prime Minister’s move for taking the political leadership into confidence on the issues, which are of paramount importance form the national point of view.

The proposed meeting will send a strong message that the nation stands united when the defence and security of the country is at stake. Political differences in the domestic politics do not come in the way of national and foreign policy issues, which are above the party politics.
