President to visit Gorakh hills station to review development work

Karachi, December 12, 2012 (PPI-OT): The present democratic Government is assigning a priority to the development of Gorakh Hills Station and President Asif Ali Zardari will soon visit the Gorakh to review the development work on the site with a view to accomplish vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, this was stated by Director General, Gorakh Hill Development Authority, Engineer Nazir Ahmed Chakrani, while presiding over a meeting of the Field Officers at his office today.

The Director General informed that a new alignment of 54 Km road of all weather from Wahi Pandhi to Gorakh Hill top is being considered for which a PC-I is under preparation. He also informed that Minister Tourism Development, Muhammad Ali Malkani has directed to complete on-going work before the expected visit of President.

He said that development work at the Hill Station has been accelerated and in this regard, some new schemes, which include widening of a road from Wahi Pandhi to Gorakh Hill and construction of small bridges has been sent to Planning and Development Department for approval.

In the meeting it was informed that a number of development schemes which include construction of Tuck shop, Staff Quarters, Tourists Huts and water supply lines have been completed.

The Director General informed the meeting that President Asif Ali Zardari is taking keen interest in the speedy development of Gorakh Hill Station as a full resort, adding that President during his recent visit to Karachi issued special direction for development work at Gorakh Hill Station and promised to visit the area to review on-going work.

It may be mentioned that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, along with Mr. Asif Ali Zardari had visited Gorakh Hills Station in 1989 and visualized developing it to a full resort of recreation for the people of the Province.
