President Zardari Commits Support for Economic Development in Azad Kashmir

Islamabad, In a significant meeting with Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq, President Asif Ali Zardari pledged robust support for economic initiatives in AJK, with a particular focus on enhancing the region’s tourism sector. The discussions aimed at capitalizing on AJK’s scenic landscapes and developing its potential as a major tourist destination.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, President Zardari detailed his commitment to facilitating investment across AJK’s various economic sectors during the talks. He emphasized the importance of tourism in driving socio-economic uplift and generating broader economic activities within the region.

The President also addressed the need to enhance educational and vocational training for the youth of AJK to improve their employment prospects and ability to contribute to regional growth. Additionally, he noted that Pakistan could assist AJK in accessing carbon credit markets, further benefiting its economy.

The meeting also touched on the recent adversities faced by AJK, including the loss of lives due to rain-related incidents. President Zardari expressed his condolences and assured continuous support from the federal government to aid affected families and mitigate future crises.

Moreover, President Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) in their struggle for self-determination, condemning the ongoing human rights violations there and urging international intervention.

The discussions concluded with Prime Minister Haq inviting President Zardari to visit AJK and address the Legislative Assembly, a gesture underscoring the ongoing collaboration between the federal government and AJK’s administration.
