Protesters subjected to brute force in IHK, several injured

Srinagar, March 02, 2013(PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, several people were injured when Indian police and troops used brute force against peaceful protesters at different places in the territory.People took to the streets in Srinagar, Budgam, Chrar-i-Sharief, Ganderbal, Shopian, Islamabad, Bijbehara, Handwara, Trehgam, Kralpora, Lolab, Kupwara, Baramulla, Bandipora, Hajin, Sadrkoot, Naidkhai, Nowgam and Pulwama areas and staged forceful demonstrations. Raising pro-freedom slogans, they demand the mortal remains of Kashmiri leaders, Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru, buried in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail.

The troops and police resorted to heavy baton charge and excessive teargas shelling to disperse the demonstrators at Begumbagh in Pulwama and in Baramulla town, injuring several persons.

The residents of Begumbagh said that the Indian forces barged into their houses, ransacked the household goods and broke the windowpanes. The police also arrested two youth from Kupwara town.
