Punjab Lecturer Faces Disciplinary Action for Prolonged Absence

Lahore: Ms. Yumna Shamshad, a lecturer at a local educational institution, is currently under scrutiny for remaining absent from her duties without authorization, invoking disciplinary procedures under state regulations.

According to Higher Education Department – Government of The Punjab, the action follows Ms. Shamshad’s failure to attend her job responsibilities from October 3, 2023, to February 12, 2024. The department has issued a show cause notice under Sections 7(b) and 5(1)(a) of the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability Act, 2006. Ms. Shamshad has been given seven days to respond to the notice and justify her absence, failing which it will be presumed she has no defense to offer against the charges.
