Punjab Police Conduct 236 Raids in a Single Day as Part of Crackdown on Drug Trafficking

Lahore, The Punjab Police launched a massive crackdown on drug dealers as part of the Drug Free Punjab campaign, conducting 236 raids across the province in a single day. The operation, which targeted bases of drug dealers, resulted in the arrest of 86 individuals and the registration of 83 First Information Reports (FIRs) against those involved in drug trafficking.

According to Punjab Police, the ongoing operation, initiated on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has seen a significant increase in raids against drug dealers. In a single day, police recovered 56 kg of charas, 1 kg of heroin, 840 grams of Ice, and 828 liters of alcohol from the arrested suspects.

Punjab Police’s special campaign, which began on February 26, has involved 16,487 raids across the province, leading to the registration of 7,842 cases against drug dealers and the arrest of 8,322 suspects. During these operations, police recovered 5,330 kg of charas, 97 kg of heroin, 216 kg of opium, 27 kg of Ice, and 105,048 liters of alcohol.

IG Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, emphasized the importance of intelligence-based operations to combat drug trafficking. He directed Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) to expose and bring to justice those involved in the drug supply chain. IG Punjab also called for priority actions against suspects involved in Ice, sheesha, and other modern narcotic drugs. He stressed the need for accelerated combing operations, especially in the vicinity of educational institutions and hostels, to prevent the spread of drug use among students.

The large-scale operation against drug dealers demonstrates Punjab Police’s commitment to eradicating drug trafficking and ensuring public safety across the province.
